Cub Scouts
Welcome to the Cub Scout Section of our District website.
Cub Scouts follow on from Beavers and is for boys and girls aged between 8 and 10 ½.
Whilst they are with the Pack, Cubs have the opportunity to gain a wide range of badges, which are worn on their uniforms to show to everyone how well they are doing. There is also the opportunity for the young people to participate in Camps, Pack Holidays, Archery, Rifle Shooting, Climbing, Hikes, Campfires, Wide Games and various District competitions, such as Chess, Orienteering, Handicraft and Mastermind.
Pack Leaders have the responsibility of running weekly meetings offering a wide variety of programmes but with the same core principles of providing fun, challenge and adventure plus preparing Cubs for their move to the Scout Troop.
There are 17 Cub Packs across Basingstoke West District run by qualified and DBS checked Leaders and, like the Beaver Section, most have a waiting list.
All Leaders are volunteers and more Leaders & Occasional Helpers are always welcome and enable us to give young people more opportunities & reduce waiting lists. If you are interested in the above or would like to become involved as a helper in the Cub Section, then please email cubs@bwds.org.uk and I will put you in touch with your local Cub Pack.
